I'm new to educating myself on diabetes as well
Hello, I'm new to the group. I'm new to educating myself on diabetes as well. I just wanted to share my story. Since I was a kid, I've been beating up my body with tons of bad food. Tons of candy, hamburgers, pizza..you name it, I ate it..every day and in large amounts. For the past year, I've been feeling faint and lightheaded nearly every single day and every minute of the day. I often find myself not wanting to leave my bed and not wanting to deal with anyone. Life has been miserable. So about 4 days ago, I went out and purchased a device to check my blood sugar level. I tested myself right before I went to bed, my sugar level was 194. I didn't know exactly where that fell as far as being diabetic but I did some research and joined a group...After researching, I found that 194 is indeed in the diabetic range. That scared the crap out of me. So I decided to totally change my diet. It's only been 3 or 4 days but now I have a blood sugar level of 112 after eating. My blood pressure has gone down and also my heart rate is great. I just wanted to share my short experience and this is gonna be a life long journey. I'm here to further educate myself on things and I thank you for letting me join the group.

Welcome, Willie! From your post I understand that you have taken in the material in the Tool Chest and the introduction video and that you have taken this to heart! Good. If in the course of your journey you need help, please let us know! :)

You came to the right place if you want to get this under control without medication. I had a similar situation. I was getting extremely lightheaded and blurry vision and losing weight. Checked my sugar and it was 400! Now I'm in normal range thanks to diet and exercise.

My blood pressure is 112/76 heart rate 61...I checked that today but still feel lightheaded.

Maybe I need to start exercising now because I'm not sitting upright most of the day. I'm always lying in bed.

Willie Lawrence Jr. you may want to talk to your primary care physician. Blood pressure is in the neighborhood of what mine is. I just started in January walking at a decent speed and increasing incline. Now I'm doing between 10-20 miles on my bike riding on the bike trail and back roads that we have around here. I just got done doing 16 miles.
Willie Lawrence Jr.
Jason Moore you don't get light headed anymore?
Jason Moore
Willie Lawrence Jr. not like I did or do if my sugar gets high. I'm on blood pressure meds too that I had to reduce 5 times. I'll possibly get off of them altogether. I do remember how light headed I got from high sugar though. I would about faint. Again my sugar was 400. Cut the carbs and do the plan laid out here and your body will heal itself in time.

Diabetes goes hand in hand with heart disease. Get that checked (blood pressure) too. Go Zips!! Symptoms for a year need to be checked by a doctor.

Thanks everybody. I'm just trying to figure why I'm lightheaded all the time. It's really irritating. It affects my day to day activities. I hate it.

Give it a week or two to adjust. It took a long time to get to this stage, but following this WOE you will get there. Add salt - Himalayan or unwashed - to some broth, and add a tablespoon of butter. It's so good!

Yes, Willy, have you read the material on keto flu? You need to take in more salt than you did before you started making adjustments. Broth or salt dissolved in water might do you good, and make sure you salt your food.

Are you on blood pressure meds? Many don't need them anymore after changing to this way of eating.

I dropped the last one I was on. It made my legs feel as if weighted down for about 4 hrs after taking.

Is there a relationship between being diabetic and having rheumatoid arthritis. I have the autoimmune condition in my right hand since December last year. Trying really hard to change my WOE. In pain daily but it's subsiding.
