I was diagnose with type 2 diabetes and my doctor then had me put on the first metformin

I have a question. About 6 years I was diagnose with type 2 diabetes and my doctor then had me put on the first metformin. While I was on it I had stomach pain. Thou the years I have been on different meds. My current meds are not really working.

So my question is if I ask my Endo doctor about metformin extended release. Does this med cause pain in the stomach area too?

This is probably a stupid question did you take it after eating? If you did some people do have stomach pain even after eating.

I tried it stomach and diarrhea had to be put on Lantus.

I’ve been in metformin for over 14 years I was told to take tablets half way through my meal I’ve never had a problem but everyone is different.

I was on extended release metformin for three months and was sick the entire time. I was supposed to take it twice a day but I could only do once a day. Not only did it make me sick to my stomach but it made me feel sick all the way around. Luckily with major changes to my diet I was able to stop taking it and didn’t have to take any other meds in its place.

I've been on metformin xr for several years. As long as I take it with food, im fine.
